About us
SmartRE is for teachers, students and anyone interested in religion. Going around the country as a ‘retired’ subject matter expert, training and talking with heads of RE and teachers, I was
frequently asked why there was so few websites for RE students. SmartRE is my passionate response to these questions.
I was a successful RE teacher in four schools and now train RE teachers. I passionately believe that RE is a key subject in schools and am committed to making a significant impact in supporting RE in our rich, complex multi-cultural society.
It is important for our society that we connect young people with religion.
Our team are expert in web development who are working with me and others to provide, what we hope is, a user friendly, attractive resource for students and teachers alike. Some of the team are still young enough (18+) to know first - hand what engages young people.
We sincerely believe that you will find SmartRE is a resource that will make a major contribution to teaching and studying Religious Education in the world we live in today and in a truly multi-cultural society.
Chris Browne
Our Team
Chris Browne is our subject expert in Religious Studies. He spent over 30 years teaching and providing innovative leadership in R E in four secondary schools and has been training R E teachers for the past 6 years. He also enjoyed 18 successful years as a deputy head teacher and three as associate head teacher.
Liam Flanagan is CEO of Enable PLC and provides business solutions for companies around the world. He has enabled the resourcing of SmartRE and is successfully developing the skills and expertise of young people through his company. Liam is also our chief business advisor
Liv Reed is our website designer, photographer and artistic expert. Liv is also one of our student voices, and is the London Tech Apprentice of the Year 2017
Upasana Chag is our Hinduism and Buddhism consultant. She completed her BA in the Study of Religions and completed two MA degrees. She has presented at inter-faith conferences in the past, and completed her PGCE at the University of Oxford. She is now teaching in a secondary school in London.
Mayuri Parekh is our Hinduism and Buddhism consultant. She has completed her BA in the Study of Religions and her Master of Arts in Religion and Theology at the University of Manchester. Mayuri recently completed her PGCE at the University of Oxford, and is now teaching in a secondary school in Leicester. Mayuri is also a GCSE Religious Studies examiner.
Shraddha Patel is our Hinduism and Buddhism consultant. She completed her BA in the Study of Religions, and proceeded to complete two MA degrees. She has presented at interfaith conferences, and is a GCSE AQA examiner. Shraddha recently completed her PGCE at the University of Oxford, and is currently working in a secondary school in London.
